In 2008, mobile online shopping purchases (with the exception of travel) accounted for $396.3 million.
In 2009, that figure had grown to $1.4 billion.
In 2010, mobile commerce accounted for $3.4 billion.
THOUGHT: It has been getting easier and easier to make mobile payments.
With the announcement of Google Wallet yesterday, the promise of even more effortless mobile transaction looms much closer. I’ve spoken about the Square iPad app and how that has the potential to democratize transactions.
Google want to get rid of the dongle and make mobile transactions as easy as a tap through the magic of near field communications.
As for me, the electronic wallet couldn’t come soon enough.
