The move from cameras to smartphones isn’t just happening with photos—it’s also popular with videos. August 2014 polling by cloud-based video creation service Animoto found web users were using smartphones much more frequently than digital cameras for video recording. Over 40% of US internet users said they used a smartphone to create personal videos a few times a week (23.8%) or at least once a day (16.4%), compared with fewer than one-quarter who said the same for digital cameras. In fact, the percentage of respondents who never used a digital camera to record video was almost equal to those who did so a few times a week or at least daily.
