Content On Which People Comment Anonymously By Type, June 2014 [CHART]

In a June 2014 study by Livefyre, 40% of US internet users said they had commented anonymously. However, most of these respondents weren’t always hiding behind the digital wall: 88% still revealed their identities at least some of the time. But they didn’t like being forced to do so, with 78% of those who had posted anonymously saying they wouldn’t comment if it was mandatory they revealed themselves.

News sites were the most popular digital content for anonymous posts, cited by half of secret commenters. Politics, which many can get heated over, ranked second. Other topics, such as personal blogs, entertainment and sports, all trailed far behind, with gossip about celebs landing in last place. Read the rest at eMarketer.
