Smartphone penetration reached 68.8% of the US mobile market during Q1, up from 65.2% in Q4 2013 and 58% in Q1 2013. Separately, the CEA estimates that 64% of US households now own smartphones. Meanwhile, comScore finds that Apple remained the leading manufacturer (41.4% market share), ahead of Samsung (27%) during Q1, with the gap between the two narrowing by 1.3% points from Q4 2013. Android was still the top OS in Q1 (52.2%), widening its lead over Apple. Facebook was again the most popular app in Q1 among adult iOS and Android users, with 75% reach, while Instagram moved into the 9th spot, with 28.1% reach. Source: comScore
